The Anchoress

Welsh producer/artist The Anchoress returns with a new album in 2026. Her two acclaimed studio albums thus far have attracted fans including The Cure's Robert Smith, Caitlin Moran, and Elton John.

Her baroque songwriting mixes melancholic guitar anthems with "swaggering synth-pop" (Uncut) and "shining alt-pop from the artisan of darkness" (Record Collector).

Her Top 40 second album The Art of Losing reached UK Top 40 and #1 on iTunes. Named album of the year by The Sunday Times, The Line of Best Fit, Mail on Sunday, Prog, and The Sun, Sir Elton John called it "one of my favourite records of the year."

Twice nominated for the Welsh Music Prize, she has collaborated with Bernard Butler and Manic Street Preachers.

Her 2023 collection Versions, featuring re-workings of tracks by Radiohead, Depeche Mode, and the Cure, was named an album of the year by the Mail on Sunday, "beguiling and insightful," (The Sunday Times ) and "a thrill for teenage goth girls everywhere." (MOJO)
